Floyd Mayweather Defeats Conor McGregor by 10th–Round TKO

With an aggressive showing in the 10th round, Floyd Mayweather defeated an exhausted Conor McGregor by TKO.

Mayweather commanded the latter part of the fight, landing heavy punches after taking the early rounds to feel out his opponent, who was making his boxing debut.

McGregor had come out swinging, opening on the offensive and making a statement in the sense that he looked like he belonged. McGregor appeared in control in the early rounds as Mayweather struggled to land direct punches and took a handful of shots. McGregor’s size and reach advantage were on display. McGregor appeared to tire toward the end of the fifth round, and given Mayweather’s experience, the tenor of the fight began to shift.

But Mayweather came out firing in the sixth round, throwing a bevy of haymakers and turning up the aggression. At the halfway mark, the Showtime broadcast had the fight scored as a tie. McGregor caught another wind in the ninth round after Mayweather had largely commanded the pace. It didn’t last long, as McGregor came up visibly exhausted and his opponent continued to dominate the punching. The fight was closer than most had expected as the final stretch began, but Mayweather appeared to have a firm upper hand.

Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor predictions: Boxing and UFC stars reveal who they are backing in mega-fight

McGregor faces a seemingly impossible task against the boxing legend

Mayweather vs. McGregor, The long-awaited bout is finally here! After months of speculation, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is coming out of retirement to square off against Conor McGregor. Two of the world’s best trash-talkers, these men are also elite fighters. The historic match up is going down August 26th at T-Mobile Arena, so click below to find your Mayweather McGregor tickets today!

“Floyd Mayweather will dominate Conor McGregor.”

“But what about McGregor’s left hand – he’s a huge puncher.”

The debate over tonight’s Las Vegas mega-fight has been raging for months – but the talking will finally stop when the first bell rings in the T-Mobile Arena.

Mayweather is of course the odds-on favourite to win his 50th professional fight against a man making his debut.

But the odds have shortened on McGregor shocking the sporting world and causing one of the biggest shocks in history.

Here, the great and the good from boxing and mixed martial arts make their predictions ahead of the fight of the century.

“There’s always a possibility when you have punching power like Conor McGregor but we don’t know how that left-hand will land when he has boxing gloves on. Floyd Mayweather doesn’t think offensively, he thinks defensively and McGregor is the opposite. Mayweather is the best the world, so there are going to be traps that McGregor will need to avoid. The Irishman needs to use a lot of feigns so he can draw those attacks out of Mayweather before he falls for them. It’s the element of unpredictability that McGregor brings to the table that intrigues me most. That’s what makes this fight so interesting.”

Dan Hardy, UFC welterweight and commentator

There has been a huge amount of doubt from everyone required on regardless of whether the two sides could, at last, go to a concurrence on a money related split for the benefits on the battle.

Presently it shows up McGregor is ultra sure that he will get an agreement marked in the exact not so distant future that will eventually procure the UFC genius the greatest payday of his whole profession.

“I’m prepared. I anticipate it. I’m energized and I’m readied. We’re near inking it,” McGregor uncovered when addressing IFL TV. “I’m not going to state no more, we’re close that is it.”

Sources have revealed to FOX Sports that the conditional date for the Mcgregor vs Mayweather battle is at some point in mid-September in Las Vegas, expecting all sides can go to an opportune assertion. In any case, nothing is sure at this phase of arrangements.

McGregor would likewise likely be relied upon to move his preparation camp to Las Vegas for the battle after the introduction of his first kid in late April or early May.

While the matchup with Mayweather would be the principal proficient out of McGregor’s vocation, the Irishman is absolutely extremely sure about his odds in the battle.

“[Expletive] Floyd. Put stock in me, this entire boxing world doesn’t realize what will see when I come in here,” McGregor yelled. “I’m eccentric. No one comprehends what they’re in for.

“Everyone’s keeping in touch with me off. Will be in a stun. Don’t imagine it any other way.”

Obviously, McGregor would be a gigantic underdog going up against Mayweather, who resigned in 2015 with an immaculate 49-0 vacation record.

Still, McGregor has demonstrated a lot of individuals wrong

The Nevada State Athletic Commission discloses the fixed payments of fighters on cards within its jurisdiction, so we found out on the eve of the fight that Mayweather and McGregor will make a combined $130 million just to show up. Mayweather backed up his ‘A-side’ claim in knockout fashion – he gets $100 million guaranteed, McGregor ‘just’ $30 million.

Source: FoxSports

Pay-per-view points are where the fighters make their truly astronomical figures. After a share of PPV revenue (plus sponsorships and other incomes), Mayweather has boasted that he could make $300 million, while McGregor expects to surpass $100 million.

“Just being real. They call me ‘Money Mayweather’ for a reason,” Floyd told FOX Business. Mayweather, of course, owns Mayweather Promotions – meaning he collects the windfalls due both the event promoter and No.1 star.

The UFC’s cut, as McGregor’s primary promoter, has been reported at an estimated $50 million, while Conor’s own promotion brand – McGregor Sports and Entertainment – has emerged amid the heady creation of the superfight and ‘The Notorious’ will make about triple his biggest UFC payday through his appearance purse alone.

Will the fight be an epic mismatch?

There are those who say that Conor McGregor, a 5-1 underdog with the bookies, should be more like 100-1 or 1,000-1. If this is so, the bout will probably be ugly early. Watch to see if McGregor lands any blows at all in the first round or two. Mayweather is a dazzling defensive fighter, and the phrase “He couldn’t lay a glove on him” may never be more appropriate.

Mcgregor vs Mayweather Live Boxing: Who will win the fight?

It will be interesting to see how big McGregor looks tonight compared to Mayweather. At the weigh-in yesterday, McGregor checked in at 153 pounds and said that by fight time he would be “close to 170.”

Mayweather was a comparatively trim 149½, and based on past history would not be expected to bulk up to anything like McGregor’s weight.

Mixed martial artists, like wrestlers, make a habit of cutting weight to make the lowest possible weight class, then pile on the pounds before the fight.

Live: First of Three Undercard Bouts Is Over

In the first of three featured undercard bouts, youth triumphed over experience.Andrew Tabiti, 27, defeated a former world champ, Steve Cunningham, still lacing them up at 41. Tabiti held on to his USBA/NABF title by unanimous decision. Two more championship bouts to come, but the arena is not even close to half full, with large swaths of empty seats in the lower bowl. The upper deck is more full, with more frugal fans clearly wanting their money’s worth.

Mayweather vs McGregor fight money: Floyd-Conor paydays, total revenue, pay-per-view

Odds Money Never Swung Back to Mayweather

It’s Las Vegas after all, so let’s talk gambling. When this fight was first proposed, Mayweather was made a huge favorite, 10-1 or more.

But then people started betting. And almost all of them wanted to bet on McGregor. Maybe it was his popularity. Maybe they just found the prospect of betting a little to make a lot more appetizing than the opposite. The odds fell until Mayweather was a mere 4-1 or 5-1 favorite. Given that just about every expert thought the fight was a mismatch, this seemed low.

Bettors are sometimes divided into “sharps,” knowledgeable players who often bet big, and “squares,” tourists looking for a fun smaller bet.

Source: FoxSports

UFC president Dana White claimed in the build-up that the fight was tracking to break the all-time pay-per-view record, hitting nearly five millions buys in the US.

“We’re gonna do the numbers that everyone has been talking that we’re going to do. The line in Vegas, the over/under, is 4.9 million [buys]. Everything is tracking right now to say that we’re going to kill this thing. So it’s looking really good,” he said on a conference call.

The PPV record, of course, already belongs to Floyd. Mayweather vs Pacquiao did just over 4.6 million buys for revenue around $455 million.

Being a high-demand fight, US broadcaster Showtime has charged a premium $99.95 for MayMac on a HD home PPV. The enormous buy rate in the US, combined with another 200 countries in which the fight is set to air, will again ensure a colossal revenue stream numbering in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

“Internationally we’ve already surpassed where we were with ‘MayPac’. So we’ve got something very special,” Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe said. “We’re going to break all the records, in all the Pay-per-View markets, internationally.”

Another tidy earner will come via closed circuit viewing parties on the Las Vegas strip in MGM Resorts properties – generally at $150 per ticket, expected to reap more than $7 million from fans lacking the cash to attend the fight live. Bars in the US pay a per-head rate to screen the fight, based on their occupancy, and may account for a further $15 million revenue.

Mayweather’s extraordinary earning power in this fight has seen his sponsorship revenue reported at $25 million, broken down as such:

Ring sponsorships: $5 million

Robe: $1 million

Shoes: $1 million

Weighin trunks: $1 million

Victory hat: $1 million

Walkout cap: $.5 million

Fight shortsfront waist: Over $3.5 million

Fight shorts, front seams: $3.5 million

Fight short, rear centre: $3 million

Fight short, rear waist: $2 million

Fight short, front thigh: $1.5 million

Fight short, rear thigh: $1.5 million

A betting company already has purchased the space on just the ring cushion behind Mayweather’s head for a cool $3.1 million. ‘Money’ is also backed by a long-term endorsement with Swiss watchmaker Hublot.

It is not known just how well McGregor has cashed in on sponsorships, though he’s been spruiking a number of products for which he has endorsement deals, such as Beats By Dre, Budweiser, Monster Energy and Rolls Royce. MayMac presented an enormous opportunity for the MMA megastar, who was not bound by the UFC’s Reebok deal, which limits fighters to an apparel fee for their fightwear (Conor reportedly made $40,000 last fight).

The WBC unveiled a jaw-dropping prize for MayMac at the pre-fight press conference. The Money Belt is made of alligator leather, with 1.5kg of solid 24-carat gold, 3360 diamonds, 600 sapphires and 300 emeralds.

Estimated value: Lots.

Mayweather has promised to make a major bet on himself to win – reported as high as $5 million, though he’s yet to reveal a number. “You guys will see the betting ticket, don’t worry,” said Mayweather, a noted sports gambler. “I can’t really say what’s the number, but I will bet something heavy. Will it be my biggest ever? Most likely.”

Vegas sports books have taken multiple bets in excess of $1 million for a Mayweather victory. Bookies worldwide are reporting that a McGregor victory would be a disaster, with bets on the Irishman hitting them in some cases at a rate of 20-1. However, Vegas bets for McGregor have averaged in the low hundreds, while one bookie’s average bet for Mayweather was about $8000. has reported that it will have to pay out some $10 million if McGregor wins.

MayMac has been touted as the biggest betting fight of all time, exceeding the $60 million held with US bookies for MayPac.

The much-hyped fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will be delayed because of pay-per-view outages.

“Due to high demand, we have reports of scattered outages from various cable and satellite provides and the online offering” Showtime, the fight broadcaster, said in a statement released shortly before midnight Saturday. “We will delay the start of the main event slightly to allow for systems to get on track.  We do not expect a lengthy delay.”

It is not known how many carriers or online providers are experiencing outages, EPSN reported.

In his post-fight interview, Mayweather admits that McGregor was a tougher opponent than he expected. But he also said he executed his gameplan flawlessly, allowing McGregor to wear out in the early rounds, fire all of his big shots, then fatigue down the stretch. Mayweather turned on the gas the final few rounds, finishing off McGregor after the fighter had long been running on empty.

Said Mayweather of McGregor: “He’s a lot better than I thought he was. He used different angles. He was a tough competitor. But I was the better man tonight.”

McGregor said he wished the ref had let the fight keep going, saying he was only fatigued.

“I thought it was a little early of a stoppage,” he said.

As for Mayweather, McGregor praised the boxing star but also didn’t sound over-the-top impressed with his opponent.

“He was a lot more composed under the shots,” he offered.

It’s over! Money Mayweather is the champion!

After letting McGregor wear himself out one final time, Mayweather finished McGregor off with an unbelievable barrage of punches. The ref stepped in while McGregor was still standing, but woozy and against the ropes. Mayweather celebrated with a sprint across the ring.

Another big round for Mayweather. He got the crowd on its feet at one point after knocking McGregor around the ring. The UFC star looks absolutely gassed at this point, grabbing on to Mayweather and locking up several times to catch his breath. He’s still connecting on a handful of shots, but Mayweather’s are far more frequent and ferocious. Money is cruising.

The momentum is swinging heavily in Mayweather’s favor. McGregor looks fatigued. After all, the UFC only has five rounds and we’re in Round 6. Mayweather was on the attack most of the round, with McGregor’s flashes coming less frequently in this round. McGregor is going to need to make something happen quickly for him to win this fight. Mayweather is going to pick him apart if this trend continues.

We’re getting deep into this fight, which most analysts predicted would be a bad thing for McGregor, but he’s managed to stay respectable so far. He’s definitely more winded than Mayweather, as the 49–0 champ continues to attack and McGregor treads water as the fight wanes on.

One thing is clear: McGregor is in Mayweather’s head to some extent. Floyd just pushed Conor in the chest after the bell had sounded.

The intensity is picking up! Both McGregor and Mayweather had their moments in the fourth, notably a left hook by McGregor and several impressive combinations by Mayweather. After being passive in the first three rounds, Mayweather started to stalk McGregor in Round Four, forcing him to back-pedal on several occasions. The crowd is responding after any shots landed by either side.

Four rounds in, there’s no question this fight has already delivered.

Uh, oh. McGregor keeps punching Mayweather in the back of the head, leading the ref to break things up. Despite an impressive start, those types of illegal punches could wipe everything away. His jab continued to be a weapon, landing several shots to the head on Mayweather.

Until Mayweather wakes up, McGregor’s going to continue to outpoint him at this rate.

Round two was pretty much an even split. McGregor continued to assert his physicality, bodying Mayweather and landing several strong jabs. Floyd countered better in the second round, landing his share of punches on McGregor as well. Still, this is McGregor’s fight so far. Despite his bravado, he’s a patient fighter.

We’ve got a fight! Mayweather and McGregor spent most of the first round sizing each other up, but they had an equal amount of impressive flashes. McGregor landed several good punches on Mayweather, visibly to Floyd’s surprise. McGregor gained confidence quickly, at one point putting his arms behind his back to taunt a timid Mayweather.

All things considered… I think, McGregor…won…that…round?! He was the aggressor and set the tone. Mayweather might have just been taking notes, but he didn’t show much. He’s holding back for the time being.

12:14 A.M. ET:

OK, McGregor and Mayweather just touched gloves in the middle. Surprisingly civil. Mayweather looks like he’s barely taking this seriously. He’s so calm it’s somehow disrespectful. I love it. HERE WE GO!

 final odds:

Mayweather: -550
McGregor: +350
Won’t go 9 rounds: -180

12:11 A.M. ET:

Both McGregor and Mayweather are in the ring! Things are about to get started! Check out Conor’s walk out to the ring here.

I can’t believe this is actually happening.

12:10 A.M. ET

IT’S LIT. Floyd Mayweather’s walk-out outfit is insane. He’s wearing a full black ski-mask and dressed head-to-toe in black and gold. He looks like a stone-cold killer.

11:51 P.M. ET

Showtime confirms it is going to delay the fight until it figures out its PPV issues:

Earlier Thursday, the online streaming service UFC Fight Pass acknowledged delays.

It was the first fight for Jack (22-1-2, 13 KOs) at 175 pounds after he had won the World Boxing Council super middleweight belt.

Official result: Badou Jack (22-1-2, 13 KOs) def. Nathan Cleverly (30-4, 16 KOs) by TKO at 2:47 of round 5 to become the new WBA “regular” light heavyweight champion

According to,

The first of two title fights on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor undercard featured WBA “regular” light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly taking on former super middleweight champion Badou Jack, who’d vacated his WBC title to make a permanent move to 175-pounds.

> Floyd Mayweather Jr., 49-0 (26 KOs) vs. Conor McGregor, making his pro boxing debut (21-3, 18 KOs in MMA)

>> Gervonta Davis def. Francisco Fonseca via eighth-round knockout

In the biggest bout of his career, Davis (19-0, 18 KOs) remained undefeated following the disappointment of having been stripped of his International Boxing Federation junior lightweight championship when he failed to make weight Friday.

> Badou Jack def. Nathan Cleverly via fifth-round TKO.

Mayweather vs McGregor Live We’re only one day away from super fighting between Saturday’s Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, but there’s a final cleaning job to do. The official weighting takes place at 06:00. The ETs will likely face Mayweather and McGregor before they meet in the boxing ring the next night.

About McGregor vs Mayweather and the death spiral of American sport

Unless something strange happens, it is expected that the actual weighing will take place without any hitches. Neither Mayweather nor McGregor are in danger of losing a weight limit of 154 pounds, both of which have lower or lower-than-average fighting abilities. While Mayweather spent most of his career as a welterweight, McGregor first changed his name by fighting UFC’s 145-pound featherweight division. Weighed in 147 kilos for the final battle with Andre Berto in 2015.

  • Mayweather is “retired” after the battle of Berto but he is back for a big currency with McGregor, who started professional boxing after his decorating career at MMA.
  • The pair’s refinement, along with their hot personalities, can make one of the most-bought PPV battles of all time, despite the obvious disagreement on the paper.
  • McGregor, encountering a boxer is a completely different story, with a talented striker with KO power in the mood.
  • In particular, he is a talent like Mayweather who is 49-0, and arguably the best defense boxer of all time.

It will be surprising that McGregor is so special in his own struggle and shocking if he really wins. We will see how this thing is played on Saturday, but for now, the information for weighing is here.

Latest predictions

Lennox Lewis:

“You are talking about one discipline where you can use only your hands and only a few can do it. Every battle sport starts with your hands but they are two totally different sports.

“Floyd will stop him. He’s just too good at boxing for McGregor and McGregor is too inexperienced at boxing. He can’t use his other styles.”

Ricky Hatton:

“I feel embarrassed to say this but I’d be very surprised if (McGregor) wins a round.

“I hope he does well, I hope he wins; there’s no doubt whose corner I’m in, but if you’re asking me to be brutally honest I can’t see anything other than a shut-out for Mayweather. I think it could be a 12-round onslaught, to be honest with you.”

Peter Fury

“McGregor is going to get knocked out, and quickly,” Fury told the Sunday Times “He’s going to come in and force his hand. He has to press, to attack, and as soon as he does, he’s in deep trouble. His only chance would be to be rough, tough and aggressive.”

What is the latest news?

Conor McGregor has been driven on through the final stages of the training camp for his August 26 fight with Floyd Mayweather by the increasing ridicule he is receiving.

The 29-year-old fights for the first time as a professional boxer at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena against the undefeated Mayweather, one of the sport’s all-time greats.

McGregor built his reputation as one of the leading figures in the UFC, but few within the boxing community give him any chance of even testing an opponent who is 40 and has been inactive for almost two years.

Most recently America’s Terence Crawford, among the world’s finest fighters, and David Haye have released videos on social media mocking the warm-up technique with which McGregor demonstrates unusually loose and flexible arms.
